My mate's just messaged me to say we are linked with him (though I don't know the source of the rumour.)

He has to be one of my least-favourite players. A horrible shíthouse.

If it were in any way possible to bring his cheating, diving, wind-the-opposition-up game here, I'd love it, but I don't know whether his wages are feasible.

It would be a massive departure from the plan to sign someone like Lyle Taylor, at the arse-end of his career and no doubt commanding big wages. Also, it looks like he only scores in pub leagues.

I guess you are right, and you have to be very judicious when you decide you're going to break your recruitment structure.

I genuinely am going to myself: "Just this one signing might help us kick on. I know it isn't what we do, but just for a season, I think he'd be useful to have around."

The problem with that is, you can end up signing millions of them, 'just for a season, just as a one-off', and if we aren't successful immediately, we'll be heading the same way as Wednesday, with a squad full of pensioners who have no resale value.

I do think he'd be a decent signing. But, as a club, we need to be very careful when we go down that road, if ever.

 

Rather us sign Tate and Lyle.

I'd be absolutely astounded (as well as thoroughly disappointed) if we signed him. A less Barnsley signing I'd struggle to think of. The absolute antithesis to our club ethos.

Forest might be loaning him out and we are supposedly one of the three clubs interested. I expect Dane Murphy to shoot down this week this absurd rumour that we would loan a 31 year old striker who got out scored by one of our defenders.

Yes like we have done a million times in the past when someone at the club has spoken to the press and denied a transfer rumour. I am not on about an official site statement.
