I guess we haven't heard if he's said anything to the ref, but if he hasn't, that's insane. Ref should be 'rested' for that.

Wonder if it’s cos he raised his hand towards the ref first?

He clearly tries to slap the referee. Sound red card for me. If he appeals I hope he gets a game added. Disrespectful clod.

Can't say 100% but played and paused many times I think the ref raises his left arm first to indicate a throw in. and it looks a natural reaction to deflect it away by the player. purely accidental by both parties.
The player didnt make a beeline for the ref either. By the looks.

Is it just me, or does Twitter always buffer at the vital moment?

Not sure what you've seen there mate. Referee raised his arm first and the player's gone to waft it away.

The opposition player seems to be telling the ref he needed sending off

Just looked on my ipad(yesterday on phone) and I think you’re right, the ref does raise his arm first and it still looks like the player made contact first.
Like you also say clearly accidental, would hope if that is reason cited common sense prevails.

That's harsh orsenkaht, if there's a flailing arm coming towards you your natural reaction would be to move it away, if that is interrupted as raising an arm with intent then thats ridiculous.
Can only presume he's called the ref a **** afterwards and that's what the red is for. Screenshot_20230910-072546_X.jpg Screenshot_20230910-072724_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20230910-072825_Chrome.jpg

I think it's fair enough imho. He's been caught accidentally, he's reacted, red card.
