Interview with Luke Steele in 'Goal'. http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2565...ng-way-off-then-we-qualified-for?ICID=HP_BN_1 Hope the link works but it may be a cut & paste job.
My first interview after university was for a writing position at goal.com - it was in 2007, and can't have been long after they started (I think whoever got it would have been their first employee apart from the founders). I had to write a match report of the game in which we lost 7-1 to West Brom, and after that went down OK I got invited for an interview. Got to the final three and they went for someone else. Looking back on the ten or so years since then, it's probably the only failed job application that I wish I'd got, and there have been a few! Aside from my ramblings about what could have been, nice interview. Luke Steele is one of my favourite recent Barnsley players, although I've always had a soft spot for goalkeepers.
Good read, well done to the lad. Interesting random headlines scattered through it though, it was a bit like reading Viz.
It's a poor attempt at search engine optimisation. They're using a H2 heading to help the article get picked up in organic search listings.
I'm pleased to see Luke doing so well over there, always liked him. A good Championship goalkeeper, not without faults, but those faultless players don't play, and have never played, for Barnsley. His plus points far outweighed any negatives and he saved far more points for us than he cost. On top of all that, he comes across as a thoroughly decent bloke who always spoke well of the club and fans, a true ambassador.
One thing that shouldn't be forgotten about this type of article - it's Steele's way of reminding English clubs that he's a goalkeeper with Europa League experience that's willing to move if the right offer comes along. I'm sure he'd jump at the chance to come back to the UK, especially if a top Championship or Premier League team came along. I always liked him so I'm glad to see he's doing so well over there.
Exactly my point - but they'd probably be able to get some relevance score because it's an article about football. Especially if people make additional clicks into the site. Either way - completely pointless in my opinion.
I think there are very few if any faultless players. I always liked Steele too and I am pleased his move to Greece has worked out for him
