The view would have not been much different for the linesman when Helik was pulled down. The foul was absolutely clear, much better than on any other replays I've seen. Do referees not check with linesmen anymore?
They have a meeting before the game and set ground rules. The referee basically says "don't overrule me" and that's the end of it.
Only if the linesman sees it. If he was on the far touchline. ( I can’t remember) I’m guessing his view was blocked. By other players.
The game where Morgan elbowed Hume I recall the 4th official that day awarding a penalty to them for handball
He was on the same side as the camera. If he'd been on the far side he would have had a perfect view. I suspect that if he was up with play, he'd have been almost on the corner flag and may well have had his view obstructed since, from his viewpoint, it was beyond the far post.
It was the linesman gave it, put his flag across his chest, Rob Kozluk it was, if he'd not handled it the blades player would have had a clear sight of goal. Ironic really, the ref was far closer to Kozluk but didn't give it till he saw the linesman.
Really Jack. I would have thought the 4th official couldn’t make those types of decisions in those days. Not even now. They may instruct the ref to have a look at VAR but I’m not even sure about that.
