Local v 'Tourist' ST holders and getting back into grounds

    Saw this conversation on Twitter earlier, arising from a piece in the FT today about the current ruling for fans in grounds dependent on tiers (e.g. Tier 1 - 4k, Tier 2 - 2k, Tier 3 - 0) and the comparative problems this might have for PL clubs.

    It insinuates that ballots of ST holders would apply to 'local' season ticket holders. Hadn't thought about that (and as a ST holder living in the Midlands it would mean I'm excluded) but I guess that when Barnsley is in tier 2 it would be an administrative challenge to establish where each ST lives and whether they are also in tier 2 before entering them into the ballot.

    What surprised me the most though was that Everton have 25,647 'local ST holders whilst their near neighbours Liverpool apparently have only 5,832! The implication being that most of Liverpool's are 'tourists'. Amazing stat and as the article states, an interesting snapshot about which club holds most influence in the city.

    Also amazing that we probably have more 'local' STs than Liverpool!

    When Oakwell can open again it shouldn't matter where a fan lives if you can go to the game. By that logic Oakwell should be open this week just for fans who live in tier 1 or tier 2, even though Barnsley is tier 3.

    reading about it today what I found surprising is that Millwall only have 3k s/t holders for 2020/21 season. Essentially they get to go to every other game and put the remaining 500 per match to an other ballot. Shows how well we did to shift c£8k for this season in comparison

    Millwall capped their season ticket sales to 3,000. In fact many clubs capped season ticket sales knowing there could be a much lower capacity when people are allowed back. I believe Middlesbrough did the same.

    Do we reckon then that Liverpool have less Liverpool based ST holders than Barnsley have Barnsley based ST holders?

    The Liverpool ST numbers was a real surprise although, it's an accepted fact that most
    " native" Liverpudlians support Everton. I googled Liverpool and it claims to have 27,000
    ST holders. I wondered what the situation is like in Manchester.?

    A "true" native Mancunian apparently supports City and United has a world wide cosmopolitan
    following. However, when it comes to ST's I recall that my late cousin who lived in Donny and
    never missed a home game at Old Trafford in forty years, had to go on a waiting list and it took
    around six years before his season pass was granted. I've googled both Clubs and it claims that
    City has 47,000 ST holders whilst the figure for United is 52,000.

    Chelsea have 23,000, Arsenal have 46,000 and Spurs have 45,000 with around an additional
    80,000 on a waiting list. Their ground capacity is 62,303.
