He will never change, alway from behind coward. Joey Barton, the Newcastle United midfielder, has been jailed for six months for a "violent and cowardly" attack on a man outside a McDonald's restaurant last Christmas. England international Barton was drunk when he set about his victim in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of Dec 27. Barton, who had drunk more than 12 pints of lager, punched his victim up to 20 times as he lay on the ground. A few minutes later he attacked a 16-year-old, punching him and leaving him with broken teeth. The first attack, which Barton, 25, carried out with his cousin, Nadine Wilson, 27, was caught on CCTV. Passing sentence at Liverpool Crown Court, Judge Henry Globe, told the footballer he had committed "a violent and cowardly act". Barton, of Widnes, Cheshire, admitted charges of assault and affray last month. However, reporting restrictions were only lifted when he appeared for sentence today. Ian Harris, prosecuting, said the attacks happened after Barton and a group of friends and relatives called in to a McDonald's restaurant for breakfast. There was a series of verbal exchanges with a rival group, and these continued as both parties walked away from the restaurant. Wilson, who had drunk two or three bottles of wine, was being "loud and aggressive”, and when a passer-by tried to intervene and calm things down she told him to "f*** off". When an unknown man made an offensive gesture to Wilson she told Barton, said Mr Harris. "Barton punched this male with such force he literally came off his feet. An unknown member of the Barton group then kicked him and Joseph Barton straddled him and punched him four or five times. "Nadine Wilson joined in, throwing food at the man, and Andrew Barton managed to restrain Joseph Barton and pull him away. But this incident didn't end there. Joseph Barton continued the assault, throwing about 14 or 15 blows at him." Wilson, of Childwall, Liverpool, was given a six-month suspended sentence for affray and two months, again suspended, for common assault. Barton's brother, Andrew, 20, from Widnes, was given a four-month suspended sentence for assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The court had lifted the reporting restrictions after hearing arguments from media organisations that information about Barton's history of bad behaviour was in the public domain. In the Manchester case, he is due to stand trial accused of assaulting his former Manchester City team mate Ousmane Dabo in a training ground incident in May last year that effectively ended his career with the club. He has pleaded not guilty.
Oh dear oh dear Can some one tell me did all the arguing start as he was trying to defend the thuggish attack on Mcgeehan?
Absolute lovely person. How the hell he managed to play for England as well is beyond me. Limited footballer, limited brain cells.
All the best to our gaffer, hope he doesn’t pack in because of this incident. Message for Barton “ hang your boots up”

I was born and bred in a tough Mining community close to Dunscroft near Doncaster. For whatever reason, a number of young lads in our village quite often were involved in fights in the street. Usually, the reason why they had a scrap ,was over trying to win the affections of a girl, or if you had been insulted in some way by another local lad. Quite often fights happened when both parties involved had had a skinful. If during any scrap, you would have kicked your " opponent" or stuck the nut on him , you would be labelled a craven coward. Barton is therefore by my reckoning, a coward, pure and simple. Hope the Police and the FA do the right thing. Irrespective of what anyone did or has said to upset him, there is absolutely no justification for his abhorrent attack on our Coach at the end of yesterday's game.
