More signs perhaps, that Collins has little conviction in what his strongest XI is. Watters starting, just blows my tiny mind. Desperately hope he proves me wrong.
He hasn't. No manager explicitly does. But an ever-changing starting XI is often a pretty strong sign. As is starting with players that have been utterly dismal all season.
Trouble is, when others come on there's no real signs that they are going to be any better. The best days for strikers were in Val's days ... take 3 knackered good ones off after 60 minutes and replace them with 3 fit good ones.
Good team selection tonight, The most productive front two combination this season I believe is Watters and Cole. Kane is better when Russell plays the central mid role. Cadden offers most on the left gojng forward even tho Dodgson has looked decent. Okeefe is better defensively than Cotter and still decent going forward. We have a good chance tonight to bring us back into the top 6.
I think the strikers and team in general seemed far better drilled under Val, I'm not sure that's the case so far this season.
It's a difficult one with Watters. Only way he can improve is with game time. Of course in the 80s and 90s he'd be doing the hard yards in the central league.
The squad is too big, this is the problem Collins is facing. Chopping and changing hoping for a reaction
Neither Cosgrove or Watters have done much up to now. One needs to take up the mantle. Definitely need Russell back in.
Totally agree, we've signed him as a first team player and given him a 4yr contract so it only seems logical to give him opportunities to play. A goal will do him the world of good.
