Former Real Madrid and Spain goalkeeper Iker Cassilas who now keeps goal for Porto. He was rushed to the local hospital after suffering an acute myocardial infarction, which in lay persons terms is a heart attack I am led to believe. The Club have issued a statement saying that the 37 year old legend is stable after being taken ill during training. Messages of support are apparently pouring in from the owners and fans of his former Club Real Madrid.
Photo on the BBC Sports website this morning shows a smiling Iker, giving a thumbs up whilst in his hospital bed in Porto. His carers say he's stable, whilst he himself says that his strength is " intact". That certainly is welcome news. Hope the lad makes a complete recovery.
Iker Cassilas has left hospital today with his partner. He's thanked the Medics who helped him cope with his heart attack. When asked what the future might hold for him , he replied by saying he was not sure, but said the main thing was " I'm still here." Great news. Hope he makes a full recovery and enjoys the rest of his life.
