Sorry if already posted, culled from Barnsley news and now on Facebook. Les Ferdinand reveals why Rangers let Cole Kpekawa join Barnsley The young defender left Rangers for Barnsley towards the end of the transfer window for £450,000 and the club have a hefty sell-on clause in place Cole Kpekawa left QPR because the club didn't feel he had developed to reach the standards the club expected, director of football Les Ferdinand revealed. The young defender left Rangers for Barnsley towards the end of the transfer window for £450,000 and the club have a hefty sell-on clause in place. That didn't stop the QPR fans from reacting furiously to the sale as they saw a future star in blue and white hoops. But Ferdinand explained that he believed Kpekawa needed to be in a different environment to develop. He said: “It was a difficult one as you don't want to lose talented youngster and Cole is a talent. He's been at the club for a long time and sometimes the environment can become too comfortable for you and you don't push on as an individual" “As much as we try, I've spoken to Cole more than any other player since I've been here and the manager is the same and he wasn't getting to the levels we needed him to get to. “When I joined this club as a player, I had to go away for a year to find myself as a footballer and when I first joined here I was still very much involved in the environment I was in. It was all very comfortable. “It wasn't until I went to Turkey and was on my own with football to concentrate on. It was the making of me as a footballer “We didn’t want to lose Cole but in the interests of the club, and Cole himself as a footballer, we felt it was the right decision. “I sincerely hope that he does come back and prove to be the player that we think he can be. “We’ve done well in terms of what we’ve got for him and we’ve got a big sell-on. “I hope that he goes on and has a good career for himself, because he’s certainly got the ability. It’s just I didn’t think he was going to have it here at QPR.”
I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. I'm a fan of Cole kpekawa and I think he will do well for the reds but I'm just not sure that "big sell-on" will do owt. I don't know why I think this but he just doesn't look like a stonesy or holgate.
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. Wonder if they have any kind of sell on fee, not sure he mentioned it
Les Ferdinand was fairly hefty himself. So I imagine quite sizeable. Sent from my phone using my hands
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. Can you enlighten us how you've formed that opinion?
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. Be nice to know proper amount cos cryne last night see was nowhere near 450.000 what we paid
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. Hope were making sure we're not getting other clubs RNLs that never actually show the promise everybody thinks they have.
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. Weight & fitness issues. JFH gave him repeated warnings about his weight & he came back after the summer carrying some timber, so was offloaded.
Re: I'm not sure if that sell on will do QPR good. As his first name is more commonly a surname I'm not too sure what to think about this signing.
So essentially - QPR have admitted that they cannot develop him, but are willing to take a cut when we manage to!
