    He pretty much invented the roots / rockers sound that made Marley famous, along with Joe Gibbs. Also pioneered dub, for which he's probably more famous.

    Lee should have the same acclaim as Dylan or The Beatles. He was as important to the reggae scene as they are to theirs. A mad bad sometimes sad genius. The ‘mystery’ of who burnt the Black Ark down now may never be solved…

    You've heard of Bob Marley, He transformed his sound for starters. He originally recorded for Coxone Dodd in the 60's and was nowhere till he met Perry.

    That was only half of the story admittedly as Chris Blackwell got English session players in too, but without Lee Perry there would have been little to work on. I still prefer the stuff Perry produced for Catch A Fire TBH.
