Rotherham are top on 57 points from 31 games. Last season at this stage four teams had more points..... https://www.twtd.co.uk/league-table...Aug-01/todate:2019-Feb-15/type:home-and-away/ League One is very much weaker than when we got promoted.
Thats not necessarily a valid conclusion - its more even but whether the actual standard is weaker - stronger or the same is difficult to judge Sunderland and Pompey all have fewer points than you would expect - (also Coventry based on how they finished last season) so either they are weaker sides or the rest of the league has got tougher
Don't think it's weaker, infact I'd argue it's better and that's why the points have been shared out a bit more than last season.. I think we'd do well to get top six this time round.. With Rotherham Ipswich Pompey and Sunderland just as good if not better than us.
What strikes me most about that table is how Wimbledon got out of their situation. 6 points behind having played a game more than their rivals? It is possible! Granted were at a much tougher standard, but win Saturday and Stoke and Charlton(against Luton) lose I might start believing again. Funny sport this!
Rotherham who got absolutely battered last season top with a goal difference almost double the rest of top 6 (except Posh)and 5 times better than third. Just shows the gulf between two leagues.
Rotherham finished 22nd last season with 40 points Millwall were 21st with 44 - hardly getting battered !
Fair enough battered could be a little OTT, however they still only won 8 games (2 more than us) but conceded more than any other team and ended with a -31 gd. Which for comparison Millwall was -16 and conceded 19 less.
It shows the gap from top to bottom last season us luton pompey, sunderland and charlton were a cut above the rest of the division this season it's more even.
It's more even because Sunderland and Portsmouth didn't go up. It would be more even if we'd failed to get promotion. Best time to go back up is at first attempt. It's no surprise that Rotherham are leading the table because they've just come back down. As bad as they were, they were still a cut above. A Championship assembled squad is better than one assembled for League 1.
I agree to a certain extent but we have only ever bounced back from relegation at the 1st time of asking once in our history and that was last season under stendel.
