Had a bet on Huesca tonight not realising they were actually in la liga: thought it was the second division i was betting on. So i've just had a look at their recent history. Last season they were promoted with crowds of 3,500. Their current capacity is 5,500. Eiber had a good season last year in la liga and their capacity is just 7,000. Could championship teams with such small grounds and attendences ever hope to get to the premier league? Perhaps a few years ago, a big perhaps but i can't see it now. Anyhow, Huesca have now become my third team: good luck to 'em.
Attendances are irrelevant at that level. Wasn’t there just an article this week saying that half the premier league clubs would still turn a profit with attendances of 0?
Yes they are a small part of a premier league clubs income but i'm talking about the championship where attendance income is much much more significant.
It's like Burton Albion getting to the premier league. Huesca have the smallest budget in la liga too, they do not have wealthy backing.
