He loves it so much, he chose Glywndr Day for his first official visit as King.

Either 100% deliberate, or a staggering display of ignorance. At a time when millions of people are being asked to show respect, they seem to be seriously lacking it.

    Roll on Tuesday.

He seems quite popular there, judging by the crowds.

I’ve just read a bit about Glywndr, you make a very strong point!

His supporters in Wales will likely say he is trying to build bridges; his detractors will say he's extracting the urine. The majority will carry on regardless.

with apologies for banging on about the Welsh language yet again!

Move to make 16 September - Owain Glyndwr Day a National Holiday in Wales.

There isn't a massive push for Independence in Wales an emphasis is on preserving and promoting the Welsh Language and culture.
Welsh was recognised as an official language a mere 10 years ago.
Now all schoolchildren are taught Welsh - official business can now be carried out in Welsh - all staff in Government Departments have to have a basic knowledge of the language.
My impression is that many Welsh people neither love nor hate the Monarchy - they are indifferent to it. Having King Charles tell the Welsh people in garbled Welsh that 'the people of Wales were very close to the Queens heart' - is nonsense!

He's being a bit cavalier with Welsh sensitivities, bloody spaniel.

Never thought I’d say this but I actually feel sorry for him.
Mother just died and he has to do all this travelling, meeting folks in different parts of the country majority expressing their sympathies and saying how nice she was , in apparently a very tight timescale.
Can’t usually abide the bloke, but I’d be in bits
