3 things that struck me. It was Sheff Utd v Carlise, how long since Carlisle was a big match? Tony Currie, sauntering around the midfield until he gets the ball then pinging effortless effective balls in all directions. Players scoring a goal, quick fist pump in the air, a pat on the back from a couple of team mates then crack on, rather than a pile on or a routine that wouldn't be out of place on come dancing!
I’ve not watched that for a while but it’s sometimes like it was something from 100 years ago. Congratulatory hand shakes, pats on the back, the odd fist pump skywards. All this gathering at the corner flag and strolling back needs stamping out. Captains should be warned at kick off that every single one gets booked for it. I seem to remember Carlisle being top of the First Division now and then
I think it was just for a couple of weeks early in the season they were up there. Still a magnificent achievement. Thanks to the ruination of football by money that can never happen again for them unless they unearth a billionaire from somewhere who wants to spend a lot of his money. I think they had Chris Balderstone in their team who played County cricket for Leicestershire during the summers. Again, now unthinkable.
