Anyone know how he's been performing in the u23's? It struck me as a strange signing, a loanee for the development squad considering he's arguably more experienced than 3 of our 4 other centre halves (counting Kpekawa as a centre half). Wonder if he's got the potential to step in if we sustain injuries to Robbo or big Gus. Cheers. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
yea seen him a couple of times , he looks the part ,tall strong in the air etc but its hard to judge against opposition you don't know anything about , he does look confident and good on the ball as well .
Saw him play against Ipswich U23's and I thought he was impressive. Very tall, and fairly quick. Not above the odd mistake, but I think he'd step up should we require him to. One tackle. which was perfectly fair - but shall we say, robust - put an Ipswich lad over the wall to the discontent of their coaching staff. That said though, I'd have thought Jackson was next in line, and if he gets his chance he may be hard to dislodge from the starting lineup.
Regardless of the opposition, I suppose so long as he's impressing, then it's a good sign. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Yeah I'd imagine Jackson is in front of him too. I just found it strange that we decided to take a Spanish 3rd tier (I think) player on a season long loan solely for our reserve team, despite signing Jackson who's only other experience is in the English 4th tier and MacDonald who hasn't played above the 5th tier. I suppose the club knows what it's doing and the move for Rodriguez is probably with a view to a permanent deal if he adapts to the English game and culture. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Spoke to a bloke after on way back to car after the Leeds game, he watches the u23's regular and he said he looks terrible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rodriguez is from Sporting Gijon who play in La Liga---the same league as Barca,Real Madrid Sevilla etc
He's not first team though. He's been playing for their reserves of which play in the third division I think.
He plays for their B team which is, I believe, in the 4th tier. It's strange over their though as the 4th tier has about 8 divisions and is a mix of semi pro teams and professional reserve teams. Difficult to judge what sort if standard he's used to playing at. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Yes your right he played for the B team that plays in Segunda B. The Spanish league has La Liga at the top followed by Segunda, then Segunda B,C,D when it becomes regional. He has played a couple of games for the Spanish U19.
