Looked at the under 23 match squad toda vs sheff utd. Pinillos, Wilks and Mc Geehan but no sign of JGreeen even on subs bench. What has happened to him?. He is 24 years old so you would think he needs to be loaned out or some game time. Wasnt he designed to replace Potts last January?
I don't think he's good enough for the championship. I suspect he'll be one of the squad that is trimmed in January.
We should never have signed him in the first place. Our board showed us what’s to come selling Potts and replacing him with an untested youth player.
Nail hit on head. Sell potts for 1.5 million, replace with green two blackie eggs..... move along nothing to see here
Thought Potts was sold to balance the books , we didn’t do too bad after he left though . Green I thought looked good going forward but wouldn’t track back so he didn’t get games . He might get moved on but if you look at Mowatt who is arguably been our best player it took him a season and a half and a period on loan before progress was seen , so maybe not write Green off just yet
Potts was sold to balance books. DS didn’t play him really either tbf - I recall DS saying he was a good player, but didn’t fit into style/position Req. Re. Green - you’re only allowed so many over 23s in the that team which I think we’d done yesterday.
Potts played a lot for us last season before being sold? He was a fan's favourite just before he went with his own song? Or am I dreaming all that?
Yes fans favourite. Quality player too. Pretty sure he didn’t start as many as you think. Played a bit yes, but wasn’t always a starter. Think he only got more games later on before he went. Q
He played in 23 out of a possible 26 league one games from what I can see. Of those 23, he starts 20 and for the overwhelming majority is for the full 90 mins. There are only two games I can see where he plays under an hour. I think you might be wrong mate.
He only missed those 3 games as he was injured aswell. Load of nonsense for anyone to suggest he was a bit part player.
He desperately needed a loan move. He looked too raw for first team action and stashing him away in the reserves would have done neither party any good.
One of the earliest examples that we weren't signing the right sort of player. We seemed to go from promising talent to very speculative all of a sudden. I wonder if a key element of our recruitment team left around that time and someone thought I can do what he did.
The club says Potts was sold to raise income AND to allow Brown to step up and replace him. Brown, so far, is nowhere near as good as Potts. IMO - Brown should not be in the 1st team - he has shown absolutely nothing so far this season. As for Green - there is a really good player here if he’s given time. Thing is - we haven’t got that time because of the league position we are in.
On paper Green was a good signing - he was playing well in League2 and showed good potential. I had no problem with us signing him at the time I still think there is a good player in there but for some reason it hasnt worked for him here - no idea why not. When he has played he hasnt been awful but he hasnt exactly excelled either. For sure he needs to either be loaned out in January or sold - I would favour a loan as he could be quite good for us next year if we go down but if the club sold him I wouldnt be upset. There is no point keeping him in the reserves though because thats no benefit to him or us
Did the club really say that because Brown never played right wing before Potts was sold. Even after Potts was sold it was Hedges who played on the right & Brown only got a game because Hedges was really poor & we’d not yet brought Green in. What have you seen in Green to suggest he’s a really good player? He seems to have built up a cult following because he sprinted & won a free kick whilst defending a lead on his debut. Reminds me a bit of Wilks in that some can see no wrong in him because he got booked for taking an age to leave the pitch against Fulham
