A total non story to fill some space. What he has done is a million miles from covertly installing cameras in her home to spy on her.

We have cameras that send alerts to our phones. Our lass set it up on an app, I couldn't be bothered. If she moved out she would still get the alerts unless it was reset or she deleted the app.

I need to know more about these texts she got, without knowing what they say it’s hard to know what to think. It seems a little creepy but it doesn’t sound like he’s been viewing inside and he does own the house so he could be checking on security or maybe he’s checking that she’s not having visitors during lockdown as his kid lives there too. I think I’m going to go with he shouldn’t have done it (it’s like secretly camping outside the house to watch who’s coming and going). I don’t think she’d have told the police or moved out if it wasn’t a bit dodgy. They still clearly get on though if he’s letting her live there and said he’d buy her a new house, I know it’s probably for his kid’s sake but it’s still more than a lot of dads would do (presuming they could also afford to).

If it is similar to our CCTV system you can set it up so you get text alerts when the camera is activated or when somebody logs into the system. If hes set up on the system and he logs in she will get a text if she is also set up. It's not like he has secretly set up surveillance cameras inside to spy on her.

No of course not but he it’s still a bit creepy that he’s logging on and checking them. It’s like Facebook stalking an ex but next level as he can watch her go in and out of the house. I understand it is his house but still, it’s a bit weird when he’s got a new girlfriend.

Yes that bit does seem strange and not something I would do but it could be for a number of reasons. It's certainly not as sinister as the headline suggested.

All conjecture, my system send me a text alert as mariokempes says, when a condition is triggered, it could be a movement detected after a certain time (like 3am in the morning)
They are both set up to be texted so she would get the text as well. My system doesn't send an alert when somebody logs on
You don't have to be logged on to get a text alert

Anyway if she's worried, just unplug the controller box!
