Biggest surprise of this world cup by far are Japan.

The polar opposite of Belgium in this tournament.

They look very tidy in possession. I've seen Maeda a few times for Celtic and he's always looked a handful, albeit against a worst standard of player.

Incredible header by Perisic. Be a shame for Japan not to progress, because Croatia have been poor.

Very naive at times, but fast as fck on the break. Croatia will probably wear them down, now they’re level. Great competitors in the tournament.:)

Japan need to practice their penalties for next World Cup, Croatia looked so much more professional taking theirs.

It's official.... Japan are even worse at penalties than England. Penalties played along the ground always give the goalie a 50-50 chance depending on if he guesses right. Penalties hit hard and above 4 or 5 feet height near to a post gives far better odds. Even if goalie goes the correct way there is less likely that the goalkeeper will reach a higher ball. All three Japanese misses were alomg the ground and far to close to the keeper albeit he guessed which way to go on 3 out of 4. At least two he would not have reached if they had been high as he stayed low.

Japan vs Croatia...Nothing to fear for England which ever side had won. Past history is probably why people are so sceptical about England. If, and it is hard to do I admit , you can totally ignore the past and look at performances and squads in this tournament in isolation, England are clear favourites IMO, Brazil are certainly NOT the Brazil of old. France may well have some great forward players but look defensively vulnerable. Netherlands are physical and workmanlike but a bit....meh! Portugal reliant on Ronaldo... etc.
We have an enthusiastic squad comprising a group of young World class players. Keep the faith!! Too many 'bigging up' France Portugal etc. and knocking England.

Are keepers allowed to move forward before the penalty is taken now?

Sad news for Mr Yakimoto, his Jap team didn't have a scooby when it came to pens. :(

Must be a exemption for the Croatia keeper then.
