Whilst he didn’t do too much during his spell for us, I’ll always accept that as a squad player, he played a part that season and fair play to him. But that’s it - nothing more. He ain’t a top striker and that was proven today. All that excitement from Posh when they signed him and reckoned they got in before us If he was any good, we’d have signed him - there’s a reason why we didn’t show any interest. Hopefully today clarifies our position to the Posh Chairman!
Sometimes as a squad player, it’s more about the attitude and influence on the training pitch and changing room than actually on the pitch. I heard he was focused and was a good laugh too. Don’t underestimate that spirit, even if on the pitch he didn’t produce much.
Shocked he got booed and negative chants today. Never did anything wrong as far as I'm aware. Loan player who played a small role in getting us promoted. Why the hate towards him?
Booed whenever he touched the ball. **** Ashley Fletcher was chanted at him. A few other stuff nothing sinister but I was genuinely expecting him to get a slight applause when the teams were announced.
He's a young player learning his trade still and deserved more respect than he got today. He didn't let us down when picked
Whoever booed him is a bit of a numpty. Played a big part in us winning the JPT. Wigan away I the semis he was quality & scored
If my memory serves me correctly, wasn't it Toney's miscued effort on goal that rebounded very kindly off a defender to allow Fletcher to score our second goal against Oxford United in the JPT Final at Wembley.? By the way, loved the pun on Quest last night following his missed penalty, re- reference to the use of the words Ivan and Terrible.! Made me smile.
Yes it was. He controlled it badly (or really well I'm still not sure of his intent) and then hit it but the defender blocked it and fletcher fired in the loose ball
