Did he sign a contract to join Pompey permanently in the summer or is he coming back to us? Just wondering what the situation is.
I know he's on loan, just not sure if there was any agreement in place for him to go permanently a la Woodrow/Bradshaw. He'll not come back next Saturday either way though, he'll be Pompey's through the playoffs.
He hasn't signed a deal to play for Portsmouth next season, so he's still officially a Barnsley player. Didn't he pick up some kind of injury in training that has meant he hasn't been able to play for them.? Last time he was in the squad, was the away game at Shrewsbury on the 23 rd March, when Portsmouth won 2-0. He was an unused sub that day, but has not featured since that game.
That's my understanding too. I hold out hope that it was a two-year deal with an option of a third which we won't be triggering.
It was a two year deal. Think it was one of those three year deals in our favour i.e two years and a year extension. We definitely haven’t got him contracted for next season
Three year, according to this. Could be wrong, though. I was under the impression he was here next season, however. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40475257
I have always said I don’t care who the club sell to, if they decide to let someone go but even I would admit it would have been beyond bizarre to loan a player to a team we were trying to chase down if we knew they were coming back permantly. Like others I thought he was out of contract at end of season.
I feel a tinge of sadness over Izzy's demise. He established himself as a fans favourite during his loan spell and whilst not prolific on the goals front, his enthusiasm and willingness to fight for the cause was certainly there for all to see. I have honestly never been more pleased for a Barnsley player than when he scored against Millwall at Wembley. The lad exuded joy and he joined in the celebrations at the end of the game, as though he was a permanent fixture. Our fans were rightly enthused when Saints released him at the end of the 16/17 Season and he came to us full of ambition and the hope of playing a vital part in Heckys plans. Unfortunately, due to a string of injuries, it didn't work out for the lad and eventually he was loaned out to Portsmouth ,where he has had a similar abject experience involving injury, meaning he hasn't been able to have any meaningful effect on their run in. Don't know what the future holds for the lad. I have to say, I always feel disappointed when I hear some of our fans pulling him down. Players can't prevent and don't like being injured for long spells. It's demoralising and debilitating. Like it or not, Lloyd Isgrove is part of Barnsley FC's rich heritage and if he does leave over the close season, he will do so with my thanks for his spirited contribution whilst wearing our shirt. Quite a number of our fans are contacting Josh Scowen inviting him " home", after his congratulatory tweet on our return to the Championship. Now that would be something to celebrate, but unfortunately, and sadly I can't see it happening. He's a player who could really drive us forward next season. https://qpr.vitalfootball.co.uk/tim...ow-a-direct-simple-message-to-qpr-midfielder/
I’m surprised his number one fan isn’t all over this yet. Good player when fit, tracks back well and adds pace to the attack. A handy squad player even in the Championship
I loved him when he was here and still see 'that' joyful face when I think of Oakwell South. I also joined in the clamour to bring him back. Sadly though it hasn't worked out, and not sure it ever will. Since the Millwall game, the lad has been part of (not necessarily full games) 25 football matches. That in itself is a sad fact.
Dunno, you are obviously ITK, which I respect, but you could perhaps explain why the quoted 3 year articles are incorrect?
give him another 3 year deal, love him like a son, remember him jumping a world record height for a men of his height at wembley to make it 3-1 ,he could marry my daughter except she is 6ft 1 and it could lead to a very lopsided wedding album
