The Official Site Southend Preview was posted with the amusing typo concerning one of their players being only eight years old. I added to a couple of existing comments - just a lighthearted comment, really. Now I see this posting has been taken down and the original has been corrected on the official site. Has someone on the club staff been on here this morning and requested that it be removed? If so.....hmmmm
The club have an account on here which message certain posters and ask them to create posts. Supertyke told me the club have messaged him to do this on various occasions.
You are quite correct. I’ve noticed certain club related threads and comments being removed despite Admin’s refusal to remove other non-club related threads or comments which are often simply locked. It’s all very poor, in my opinion.
I commented on Newsbots story regarding the youth team being knocked out by Chester. That seems to have disappeared as well.
You’d think that if they’re going to be so touchy about people commenting on their mistakes in the articles they’d try a bit harder to not make them in the first place.
We haven’t removed anything. Perhaps there are gremlins in the system? Unless you can recall other articles that have disappeared. It’s all news to us. We don’t send the articles here anyway. We could however stop them from landing here. But we don’t. And yes, we as humans make occasional errors. Much ado about nothing. Standard bbs.
When you remove an article from the official site newsbot is a smart cookie and automatically removes his (or her obviously) thread from the BBS. It's not admin doing it it's automatic
Honestly no idea pal. And didn’t want to comment. Because of that, because it’s complete news to us. But some of the accusations regarding it in this thread got me to bite. Not everything is a conspiracy.
Gally himself told me once before that that's how it works. If you remove the article at your end for whatever then newsy gets all deletey
Didn't you know it's impossible to spell check a basic article, or at least read over it once before publishing? Impossible, I tell you.
I don’t think anyone is accusing anyone of anything Andy but there’s no harm in questioning why there seems to be no spell checking or grammar checking in place for some of the articles that appear on the official site. It’s not just today is it? My work over the years has seen me involved in a lot of fairly high profile published material and I ALWAYS made a point of checking it more than once before submission. It doesn’t take long to get it right. We can all make silly mistakes but the key thing is to correct them before someone gets the chance to pick holes in a piece of written work.
I'm reminded of this, from way back... Eye halve a spelling chequer It came with my pea sea It plane lee marques four my revue Miss steaks eye kin knot sea. Eye strike a quay and type a word And weight four it two say Weather eye am wrong oar write It shows me strait a weigh. As soon as a mist ache is maid It nose bee fore two long And eye can put the error rite Its really ever wrong. Eye have run this poem threw it I am shore your pleased two no Its letter perfect in it's weigh My chequer tolled me sew. (Sauce unknown)
Sorry, but I don’t really agree. I’m part of a team. A very successful team giving fans of our club more content, better content than they’ve ever had. I’m proud to play my part in that. Some of the stuff we’ve achieved, instigated and pulled off is frankly incredible considering all kinds of context. Therefore, I don’t really worry if one of us makes an occasional mistake in this hectic, 24/7 industry. The aim is not to, obviously, but I also appreciate that as good as I believe we all are, we are still mere humans. So mistakes occur. Today I published an article, in it I’ve typed 18 and for some reason the 1 didn’t register. **** happens. The mistake is reading it through and publishing it without seeing it say ‘8’ rather than 18. I could be here all day wondering why that happened. But it’s really not that big a deal beyond what I’m posting here. I take on board constructive criticism. I don’t take on board the accusations within this thread. Let’s hope for three points tomorrow and no missing digits.
