    The Germany v Austria game in 1982 set the precedent for using the situation to their advantage. Although nothing was deemed to break any rules. later it was admitted fixed between the clubs. (Although pretty obvious)
    But The netherlands wouldn't have to go down that route. Ireland just don't have to turn up so to speak.
    As in most sports. taking advantage of a situation is not widespread but not unknown as long as within the rules. I'm pretty sure The Irish fans will be hoping to lose the game. Even if it is unpalatable to most.

    Let's be honest, ROI would lose to the Netherlands anyway. Home or away (it's away). No conspiracy or cheating required.
