Any fans of this show, please watch the latest episode if you haven't already. No spoilers, but stick with it.
I concur with this! All I will say is that it was possibly the best bit of telly for quite some time. Pemberton and Shearsmith are both insanely talented writers and actors.
SPOILERS I was sure they were messing with us until they started showing the alternative episode at which point I thought it was legitimate. I only carried on watching because it's one of my favourites.
Incidentally, I've just found this commentary for a few of the episodes. https://soundcloud.com/steve-reece-in9
Sorry, I’m a big fan of this show but I just didn’t get it. I watched it this morning right to the end. What “thing” are you talking about?
The issues with the sound etc. It's obviously planned when you watch it on catchup, but at the time it was billed as being a live episode so people thought the difficulties were real and turned over.
Totally impenetrable! I’ve watched every one of these since they started and just didn’t get this one. Maybe I’m just not clever enough
I didn't think those continuity announcements were real. It was obviously part of the programme but it just went haywire for me from then on. I like a bit of surreal-ity (no such word!) but this was just baffling.
It was supposedly a live episode of inside no 9 so the first bit with the sound dropouts and continuity announcements was the "live" episode. Then they started to play a rerun of a previous episode, supposedly because of technical difficulties. Then it turned out that the studio was haunted, which was causing the technical difficulties. The bits with Shearsmith and Pemberton (and Stephanie Cole) were supposedly them as themselves following the abandonment of the live episode, stuck in the haunted studios. So it was all a bit meta and 4th wall breaking. I think the bits with Shearsmith and Pemberton in the dressing room were actually live, but nothing else was.
Yes I get all that. I'm talking about the final scene where they repeatedly showed them getting shot, from the first 'A Quiet Night In' episode.
Unless they meant to say that they really did get shot,ie.weren't acting, and their deaths could be added to the haunted studio deaths. Yes ...maybe I'm getting it now...
