"Drinking in the town centre is not recommended"

Wtf? There's half a dozen pubs at least in the town centre where away fans are welcome as long as they're not looking for trouble. "Trains run between Sheffield and Leeds" - and Huddersfield, and Nottingham, and Lincoln.

They've lifted that ******** straight from that footballgroundguide site, which is as reliable as a chocolate teapot.

    No there isn’t.

Odwyers and no7 are really the only away friendly pubs these days in town.

Brammahs is very hit and miss depending on the door staff.

Rest have most the season had home fans only door polices.

Arcade Alehouse has had away fans in when I've been. Tipsy Cow, Temple of Muses, 00Bar don't seem the sort of places that would bar away fans but I could be wrong.

Its a sorry state of affairs when football fans cant drink in the same pub without causing trouble

Arcade ale house makes three then.

    Tipsy cows hardly town centre.

Didnt know temple of muses was open during the day.

    Double 00 is doormans discresion.

The amusing thing is its not Barnsley fans thats lead to this situation.

Its the vast hordes of championship team following dickheads that have.

    Last few seasons...

    Wolves
    Leeds
    Shithouse united
    Shithouse wednesday
    Hull
    Bolton
    Villa
    Derby
    Preston
    Millwall

To name but a few have all brought large followings and acted up. * millwall just act up if theres one of them or a thousand.

    Theyve just had enough.

White Bear, Silkstone, all have away fans in. Last season Bolton virtually took over Market Hill area, Hull took over Corner Pin.

White bear you could cut tension with a knife. By 1pm it was entirely bolton acting lovely person.
When they got escorted to ground they were chucking bottles and flares and trying to break the escort to attack the garrison.

    Hull smashed pin up.

Silkstone was where they put leeds leeds leeds out of the way best they can.

I was in Chennells at Hull game, they all poured onto street coz idiots let smoke bombs off in Corner Pin. They doors at the Chennells we’re frantically locked shut. Fact is they were all in Tarn, so not necessarily a no go area for fans or idiots that call themselves fans

So what it should say is "large groups of fans acting the **** and setting off smoke bombs and the like are not welcome", not "Drinking in town is not recommended". Just slightly annoyed they've made the town sound unwelcoming when for the most part it's not.

I know i was walking past when it was getting interesting.

They set smoke bombs off after attacking the few barnsley fans inside and carrying it on outside.

Right laugh dodging police horses flying pint pots and spotty 16 year olds whove been on the snort and think they can take on the world.
