Apologies if this is a Windass and was discussed yesterday but Colchester United released a statement on iFollow revenue sharing which came as a bit of a surprise... ...while I understand it, and I’m sure the clubs know what they were signing up to, effectively there is only “home” club revenue. The revenue share is in favour of those clubs with larger catchment areas/larger fan bases unlike the actual revenue share that would take place if the game were played in front of real fans.
Only 452 Colchester fans want to watch their home games? Wonder what our numbers look like....Undisclosed but with a significant interest in my iMac retained, I bet.
L2 clubs, that. Championship is different. Every match pass sold on our website comes to us. Every penny.
can certainly see the logic in the first 500 away tickets going to the home club based on away attendances, the way our league is structured benefits us i guess as we can sell more passes to Wednesday / Derby and other clubs with large away followings etc and keep all the cash, we wont take as many away to there ground so should be net in profit on I Follow, but obviously loads down on actual match income.
Pretty sure I saw that the Carabao Cup stream revenue from tonight is split in half between us and Chelsea - hopefully a load of Chelsea fans tune in!
This is the reason I pay. I can find the games on other platforms but we can't then moan if we haven't got a club in 6 months time. A tenner a game is peanuts.
I thought Championship clubs were watching league games via there own clubs website hence income going straight to own club. i.e. we watched the Reading away game on our ifollow. So we won't get all the Wednesday/Derby etc fans income will we?
