Had enough money to appoint a top coach. Had enough money to buy top players. Had enough money to gain promotion to the Premier League. Had enough money to pay any fines to FFP. Had enough money to pay top wages. Had enough money to win the Premier League. Had enough money to compete in the Champions league... Why wouldn't you press on and do it? I don't think there is any money. Are we the next Notts County? Time will tell. Can't get my head around our takeover at all.
Because throwing **** loads of money at it wouldnt guarentee anything and no matter what we paid the top players would still go to the top clubs.
My guess is they don’t have anywhere near as much money as it was first portrayed & when many of us couldn’t work out why a billionaire would be interested on making a small profit on transfers / the sale of the club it was because we were thinking in billionaire terms. I think it seems more likely that making a few million to them is a massive deal & not the loose change that many of us originally thought
I don't think they've anything like the money that was assumed off the bat. Collectively as a consortium they won't be short, I'd wager they're wealthier combined than Patrick Cryne was. But there's no evidence available that would suggest they're billionaires or anything like. This doesn't mean I think they're here to make a few million from player sales though. And in reality, we're probably in the best financial position we've ever been. If we stay up this season I think opinions will alter.
They didn't become rich by just spending buckets of money for no return. They never said they intended to do so either. It's more likely they want to make the club financially healthy and stable, then sell it on for a profit.
Simple answer? Because they have no emotional investment in Barnsley FC at all. They don’t care who we play or which league we play in. As long as the profits from player sales and eventual profit from selling the club comes. I admit that we might be a better proposition to buy if we did spend some cash to get into the premier league, but as others have said spending cash is no guarantee of anything at all.
You can make money and be relatively successful through nurturing talent and selling them on - Dortmund do it.
