or just Hourihane, I would choose the latter. Honestly we can cope without the others but Conor is one of those you only get once in 20 years. The absolute mastermind of goals, assists, passing, set pieces, driving us forward, leadership, winning the ball in midfield. Hemsworth would say I'm too attached but I ******* love the man and his departure still affects me more than Yiadom etc.
Right now, Robbo, defence is worrying, needs some stability. CH would be great, but won't sort defence, we will have enough in midfield.
I'd probably have the others, 6 players of championship quality would improve us immeasurably right now
One of my close friends is a Birmingham City fan, he follows them home and away. He's saying that the talk on the terraces is that they can't believe what a steal Roberts was and that he's far and away the best central defender in the Championship. I know everyone's saying Hourihane as the player that they would've preferred to retain but even with him we'd still be leaking goals. The likes of Roberts at the back would have a definite impact on those around him (as we saw last season with MacDonald, Yiadom et al) and make us harder to beat, even if we didn't score as many goals due to the lack of a Hourihane type.
Short term Roberts but if I had to pick it would be Conor. One of my all time favourites and a magnificent leader of the team.
Hourihane will go down in history as a true BFC legend, right up there with Glavin, Redfearn, McCarthy et al. So yes he's the one I'd have back in the blink of an eye.
Conor, defended him right from the off when people were saying he was rubbish and could only score penalties. I'd take him back over all the others any day.
Conor for me but only just because it's clear to see that we're also struggling to replace Roberts. His presence in defence was immense.
Conor obviously. The rest are OK at this level some better than that he is one of the best midfielders we have ever had, a leader on tbe pitch and off it.
I remember a certain someone saying "He'll never score from there, it's too far out" in his last game for us against L***s. The rest is history
