But it is probably the nearest I will come to living through the phoney war part. It must have felt so surreal digging up the parks, building shelters, seeing signposts taken down, men starting to walk round in army gear but nothing actually happening yet.

    slightly o/t

Ambulance staff and other medics who have self-diagnosed/self isolated and been off work on their return to work are to be blood-tested to see if they actually had the Corona Virus (seems if you've had it antibodies are in the blood.)
If they didn't have the C V their time off will be regarded as coming out of their holiday allocation!

That sounds like fake news to me - there would be a national outcry if the Government tried that one - do you have a reliable link

I work for an ambulance service. Not heard that one tbh. They are going to be tested but only to confirm if they have the virus or not. Not to see if they actually had it.

Also some staff are self isolating. Not because they have it but due to other members of the family exhibiting the symptoms.

Well Meadowhall Shopping Centre wasn’t there during the Second World War.
So on the strength of that I had a wonder round today.
Bit quieter - but all shops are open.

    Just put on another link:
Daughter, 2 kids under 4 sent home from Nursery told to self isolate as have temperature etc, told work, they told her she needs to find carers and won’t pay for time off.
Offered to work from home said no.
She works for NHS on admin side

Don’t believe that for a second. 14 days off with full pay and not having to provide any evidence is current guidance.

Well I can guarantee you that’s what they told her.
Her line manager said she had used up her allowance for child care and procedure for Corona had not been sorted.
Is what you have quoted specifically for Corona or NHS standard?
I’ve told her to go over the Manager and ask HR direct as it seemed unreasonable with the guidance coming from the government about self isolation etc.

edit: it’s my suspicion that it’s the line manager as she has started to mess her about with her hours, telling she has to work hours she knows she can’t do etc

Depends how much special leave she’s used this year already.

If she’s suffering with symptoms it’s 14 days off as sickness. If it’s a family member it’s 14 days off isolation.

Yeah, they are saying used too much already, it’s her children not her.
Does it make a difference if she’s clinical admin?
As she’s not a clinical admin, very much behind scenes and never comes into contact with patients as in an office.

That would depend from trust to trust really. Some staff are being re deployed into other services admin staff are being trained to be used in 111 / nhs direct for example. We are obtaining extra laptops etc to allow staff to work from home where appropriate.
