That having seen the pound jump a few hedge funds will be making a lot of money tonight. Well done to them.
I particularly point you towards the 3rd paragraph.... https://www.theguardian.com/busines...y-buy-65m-house-to-celebrate-johnsons-victory And...... https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/13/uk-biggest-firms-gain-more-than-30bn-value-tory-win
Plenty make cash doing Forex trading but it's risky. Boris had three big election pledges after he got Brexit done of.... 1) 40 new hospitals (no mention yet of where they will be). 2) 20,000 more police. 3) 50,000 more nurses (actually 31,000). He's got to get them all done in the next five years or his lies and/or underachieving will be brought up by the other parties. Let's hope all three points are followed through with.
But that’s already been proven to be 1: 6 more hospitals with definite plans to build the rest later (those 6 are already well into planning stages) 2: not quite a replacement for the 23000 we’ve lost 3: as you say it’s not 50,000 because they have no way of training that many it’s 31000 if they’re lucky. but it doesn’t matter - the British voters will prove just as gullible as the Yanks. The official stats will say one thing, then BoJo will make a speech claiming the opposite and enough people will believe him, because that’s what they want to hear.
its 31k because they claim the 19k that would leave if they didn’t set any new nurses on would now stay.
Worth pointing out the costs for building these Hospitals doesn’t come directly out of the NHS funding in a lump sum. What happens is the trust wanting to build it have to apply to the Government for a loan to pay for it and then it is repaid on a repayment basis but with virtually no interest.
