    I left work at 10am Tuesday to go to doctors and then got admitted to hospital and been off sick since

    When is my first sick day Tuesday or Wednesday

    Every company has different sickness policies. Where I work I wouldn't have been paid for the Tuesday or the Wednesday.

    Your first sick day will be Wednesday though local policy may mean they don’t pay you for the tuesday that depends on your local policies.

    This is about it as far as I am aware. In fact last time I went home ill I was asked if I wanted it to be a sick day, so I would get paid.

    On the flip I have got quite a few folks off disciplinaries as a union rep when line managers don’t know the rules about absence.
