A couple of terrific saves from Davies there to bail out Lindsay and Cavare. I didn't go but I heard Liam had a great game, but that was a poor error on his part which should have given them a goal. The penalty - hard to see from that angle. I will be interested to see it in slo-mo tomorrow.

No sign of our late chance that hit the bar - again looking forward to seeing that.

Pinnock and lyndsey were good (when isn't pinnock!) had their hands fairly full with Bogle, but passed that test with ease really.

I can pardon Lindsay because the ball bobbled awkwardly up his shin as he was being closed down and he panicked a bit.

But Cavare' head down, pre-meditated flying lunge on the edge of his own box...*shakes head in disbelief*....

Delighted we didn’t get lumbered with Bogle. Cart horse on a cartload.

Even the pompey fans aren't keen on bogle. Lindsay is generally good but Davies got him out of jail today

Again though, the opponents best chance comes from us giving it to them by messing at the back. Why is Mowatt giving it to Lindsay to distribute, Mowatt ends up sat deeper than Lindsay. Surely the midfielders should be taking the ball and looking to move it forward, not giving it back tothe centre half’s to do that job. We give the ball away loads with this tactic. I may just be old fashioned and that’s not how it works these days but by, we’ve been caught out loads this season by expecting Lindsay to make a pass through midfield to a winger.

Just seen highlights on quest, yep initial stupid contact outside the box.
Also failed to show us hitting crossbar...was it brown in 2nd half? thought it was Mcgeehan at first.

Yes it was McGeehan. Brownie had the late header which their goalie saved by his right hand post.

My eyes must be going funny. I'm not seeing any of this outside the box thing. I can just see Cavare trip him with his right leg which is inside the box.

Don't think you can 100% tell either way with the speed he was going. The fact that their lad ended up so far in the box because of his momentum probably made up the refs mind.

Either way it's was a very close call. If it was the other way round and we were given a free kick, we would have been peed off.

If it was the other way round it would have been a free kick (3 pens in 2 years and all that).

Well I've just watched it in slow motion and my eyes or screen is funny as well - he may have been outside the box when he launched himself but the contact was definitely just on the inside of the line - ref was totally correct to award the pen - no complaints from me on that one - fortunately Bungle ( as the Pompey fans call Bogle looking on their board) put it in reach for Davis who pulled off a pretty good save.
We've had far worse penalties given against us this season (last weeks for example or the one at Sunderland). Interestingly I thought the ref wasnt too bad yesterday - and saw similar comments on the Pompey board so a ref who doesnt get slated by either side is a lot better than average

Watched the so called highlights on Quest. Not one shot of us attacking in 2nd half and never saw a clip of the away contingent which didn't even get a mention despite it being more than Sunderlands 1400 following which they were fawning over.
