Rumours on Twitter that he’s off to Oxford. Left out of the squad today for technical reasons, along with Cole.
Hmmm! Hope he gets more game time than Luke Thomas, who got under thirty minutes today for Bristol Rovers and registered just one assist. Looks as though Conor Chaplin must be injured at Ipswich - not in their squad for the last few games. I still rate Anthony Scully from Lincoln, if we are looking to bring one in.
Not good enough from what I've seen so no surprise to me that he's out the door albeit temporarily. Hopefully a loan spell in the division below will do him good like Mowatt. Never understood the Cole signing, scoring a few in the SPL is all well and good but I don't believe he's good enough at championship level. Thought his small cameo last weekend at QPR was embarrassing.
I think he just needs some game time and minutes to build up with. I’d have him on the bench though, particularly given there’s nobody else as a midfielder on there (Halme and Moon makeshift).
Oxford would be a great move for him. A side looking at the top end of the championship. He might be able to get a run of games (if he stays fit), and come back in January match fit and ready to go. I think he's been hampered here by not being able to get a run in the side. Just when he started to look good last season, he got injured again.
Our squad seems to get smaller week after week and the bench again today is barely division one standard and we are definitely going to struggle until that changes.
I'm not sure he ever started to look good last season. We've got him tied down on a long term contract so no issues with him going to the division below for game time and to hopefully build up his confidence. If he does go then good luck to him and hopefully he comes back ready to challenge for the first 11.
If we get the Kiwi lad in, then a loan for Kane may be a good move. Fitness / injuries are his issue. We need another regular starter, unless we buy a proper LWB & play Styles in the middle. Halme & Moon should only be stand ins at CB, unless we play Sibbick there when Andersen is back fit. Happy with Jordan Williams as a back up for Brittain, who I thought did OK today.
I honestly thought he looked good in the last 2 or 3 games before his last injury. I think it was Bournemouth away where he was pulling the strings in midfield. I do think he needs a run of games to get back up to speed. Maybe we'd struggle to give him that with Benson, Palmer and Styles all ahead of him. Although they've got 8 yellow cards between the 3 of them so far, so I reckon there will come a time where we need cover for suspensions.
I think Cole will be a good player for us later in the season, the whole team struggled second half against QPR.
