Has Dougall's injury actualy benefitted us?

It's kept him out of Australia's Asian Cup Squad so he's available, even if it's only as a Sub, and can come back in as soon as he's fully fit & Stendell decides to use him.

 

I think it's made us a more unpredictable proposition for our opponents. It felt to me like just before his injury he was being targeted. Like teams felt that if you stopped him controlling and dictating play then you essentially stopped us playing, which was largely true i think. Now we have options. Cam is a different player to Kenny, he drives us forward more and always looks to arrive late in the box and get on the end of things. There will be games when one will suit more than the other. The question i guess is can they play together?

 

I think its allowed Cam to get match fit and build his contribution as well as him fit in and the team fit around this. Also I think its given us now options that we are comfortable with in formation and changes from the bench. Its also allowed us to bring his rehab on at a proper pace instead of rushing him back. Arguably its also allowed the Potts to go. Overall I think the team as a whole have now bought into the Stendel way, we have players back to fitness and I still think 2-3 additions and maybe push 1-2 permanently or out on loan would make sense.

 

Whenever we lose a good player to injury or whatever, all doom descends on here, we have lost the next game before we can play it according to some. Have a little faith in the squad.

 

I think the key word is "Options". I'm not sure it's an issue whether they can play together but more can the team adjust quickly mid-match to the differing styles of play each one brings. As well, they both need to be mature enough to understand that neither one is "First Choice" but they complement, rather than compete with each other. If that can be achieved, happy days!

 

In a perverse way yes it has. Mcgeehan has developed beyond recognition during Kenny’s absence and what’s more I believe there’s still a lot more to come from him. It now gives Stendel options to rotate and without hopefully tempting fate cover for Mowatt if he should get a knock or suspension.
I’m hoping for one or two new faces to come in before the window closes. You can’t have two many players at this stage of the season
