Be interesting to see how Devante Cole plays for Fleetwood in the televised game on BBC 1 at 12-45pm against Leicester. Uwe Rosler has confirmed that there is some interest in him from other Clubs. Strange he's prepared to Cup tie himself if that's true. Matty James also plays for the Foxes. PS Didn't realise, Cole has played in the previous rounds for Fleetwood.
I'm not sure I follow. I appreciate you've now pointed out that he's already played for them in the cup this year but even if not it's hardly in the rights of a player to choose not to play for the club to which they're contracted purely to make themselves a more attractive transfer target. If the club chose not to play him that'd be one thing but if his employer wants him to play then he plays, surely?
Wayne Biggins' lad, Harrison, is on the bench too for Fleetwood. (Hope Hecky's got someone keeping an eye on Amari Bell).
Good, I'm glad. Ability wise, he's far too good for The Championship and should be playing regular for Leicester. In my opinion he didn't turn up for us since the Wednesday / Norwich game and that's why he's probably been sent out on loan the last two seasons due to inconsistency. Really hope he makes it.
Fair play but I have known players who are being lined up for a move to " feign" injury when a Cup game came round just to prevent them getting injured and thus scuppering their move. I also know one who along with his fellow forwards bribed the opposition defence to let them win to avoid re-election from the old fourth division. The defence took the bung but didn't tell their forward line which included a lay preacher who constantly berated his defenders and retaliated by scoring a hat trick. The "bent " defence conceded four really sloppy goals but their opposition were so bad, they still lost the game and the skipper of the "bent" team refunded the bung at the end of the game. The game was played at the Shay when Halifax were perennial strugglers in the league. The Halifax manager at the time was the late Alan Ball Senior.
I'm sure you're right @Donny Red and it probably does go on. I hope it doesn't become commonplace though. Players have enough power in the modern game as it is, IMHO.
Overheard as an injured Leicester player hobbled to the touchline with the aid of the physio: "Dig an 'ole and bury 'im!" Compassionate lot in the North West.
Now they've played him, the two club rule comes into effect. He can't be sent out on loan anywhere else this season (other than Barnsley again).
From what we've been hearing, by next week we won't need a player like Barnes. Looks like we could be getting some experienced performers. The Fleetwood lad Ashley Hunter has showed some nice touches and seems unfazed by the opposition. Could go either way this one.
Jonathan Pearce keeps saying that Hunter played at Oakwell. I must’ve missed that one, unless he’s referring to Hunter being on the books as a scholar.
On his Wikipedia page Barnsley is listed as one of his youth teams. Also, didn't he play a couple of away games at Oakwell for Fleetwood?
