Just a warning. We stayed in Cobh last night at a hotel we saw for 106 euros on bookings.com. As usual I then went to check the hotel website to see if they did a better deal direct. I'm usually really careful but the second item on the search list was the hotel name with guest reservations at the end of the hotel name. I clicked on it and was taken to what appeared to be the hotel website with the same photos etc as the bookings.com page. I made the reservation and then when I confirmed payment it showed a payment of 161 euros with 55 euros taxes slapped on top. It's a scam, they can't charge taxes. Others are saying they've come back and made extra deductions etc so I've had to cancel my card. So...beware anything with guest reservations tacked on the end. P.s the hotel had the reservation from bookings.com so these cowboys had piggy backed via them once they had pocketed the extra 55 euro.
Friend of mine. reads this forum . Posted this on Facebook yesterday. In respect of a fake booking.com. site. OMG! How good is this for a scam! I phoned Viking Hotel and she said 'Don't click on it, it's a scam'. I bet loads of people have been caught out . I have no words!!!. Just realised how to tell. Booking com (scam) wouldn't forward a message from Viking Hotel because the hotel has already contacted me direct to ask which type of rooms we need. Still very good though. Link won't work.
