A good performance against mediocre opposition after idiotic decision making by Watters.

    Onwards and Upwards.

A lot of contenders. Cole just shaded it from Kane for me. He's been given a lot of stick recently but worked very hard, rarely gave the ball away and was instrumental in the first goal. He also provided a vital outlet to relieve the pressure when we were a man down.

Jordan for me. Solid defensively while offering a threat going forward and a decent hit for the goal.

After it got announced I said I thought Connell was his usual solid self and was in with a shout but reflecting back now I’ve gone with Cole. Had a big hand in the first goal and had a very good second half. Definitely works better up top with Norwood, which is praise for Norwood too.

Shouts for Kane and Williams too.

Thought Cole just shaded it for me - made some great runs with the ball

Was impressed with Devante’s work rate and ball retention second half.

Seemed to react to his song being sung too.

But I’ve gone for JW, who I’d say is up there as one of our best players most weeks. Today he was faultless in defence, energetic both getting forward and back, and capped it with a very controlled volley/half volley finish.

I must have watched a different game to everyone else because I thought off the ball, Cole was abysmal. Good when the ball was played to feet, but made little effort to challenge for it when it wasn't. Surprised he wasn't taken off at half time because everytime we cleared the ball, it kept coming back because he was making little effort to challenge for the ball. We started to stem that a bit when Norwood came on who I thought had a good game.

Kane edged Connell and Williams for me.

I don’t get it either he’s abysmal off or on the ball

I just don't get the Kane love-in. Granted he played well today and I would go as far as to say his best game so far but never MOM. My nomination aint even listed and that's Michael Duff. Best coaching decisions I have seen in a long time. So if I can't pick him I am going for Isted who I thought was also excellent.

I’m not saying he’s a world beater by any stretch but he wasn’t “abysmal” on the ball for the first goal.

He did his job but other than one save he should have made, he wasn't really tested at all. Kicks look good though, and seems steady when coming out for crosses. Not really sure he had enough to do to warrant a MOTM personally. Williams for me. Excellent again.

Says alot about that performance as a team, cos I could have picked
    Mads
    Williams
    or
    Connell

but I really thought Cole just shaded it- never stopped in difficult circumstances - and his movement for the first goal, to make space, was great.

Well seeing as I couldn't pick Duff I went for one who made the least number of mistakes and that was easily Isted. All the outfield players gave the ball away on numerous occasions when not under pressure. I don't recall Isted cocking up. Additionally the defence looked more composed when playing out from the back than in recent matches but that might be more to do with the opposition.

For me in his brief cameo Russell showed the levels that I’d hoped Kane would achieve. I don’t see a place for both.

Thought Cole eas decent involved in the goal and made plenty of decent runs and linked up well with others. Not a motm performance but played well.
Williams was close and scored a beauty but went for kane best I've seen him in a Barnsley shirt.

No one else voted for Liam?

That pass for the first goal was utterly sublime and the rest of the game he worked his socks off defending.

I thought he had a good game too. That pass as you say was exceptional. But later on in the second half his position was suspect a lot of the time, for about a 20 minute period. Probably put that down to being shattered though because he definitely worked his socks off.

I guess this is one of those pleasant dilemma situations where a number of them could legitimately get my vote. Gone with Jordan but I thought Thomas set the tone winning four or five strong challenges first up and getting us on the front foot, I thought Kitching was a marauding rock (!) throughout and Kane was superb again in midfield. Nice second half displays from Russell and Isted too. Indeed everyone who was part of our '10's emerges with credit for me.
