Was a lovely gatherng. Ardsley Crem was packed out.

Never knew that number 4 of Barnsley alumni was his Grandad. The 1888 Preedy team. I welled up when our John, my cousin dropped that.

Sorry to hear that JP. It’s lovely that he had a good turn out and what an interesting fact to learn for the first time!

Thank you for everyone who has posted. My family have been intrinsically connected to the club for a few generations. Dad knew Norm from Mapplewell & there are loads of other connections, as I guess you get in a smallish town. I was in an indie band with Chris Daley, one of 3 sons of Ron, they were related to Flick Beevers, no 1 in the alumni. Never knew we were related to number 4, Thomas Hirst. I had no idea, although i've lived in Leeds 6 for over 30 years, the first thing I tell anyone I meet is I'm from Barnsley & support the club. It was sad seeing off Uncle Roy, a proper gent, who never had a bad word for anyone & being with my Aunt & cousins, Kate & John, but there was a lot of joy in a life, very well lived. He was 89!
