Sorry for starting another thread tonight 2 points above Rotherham and lost their two best players to Aston Villa and Celtic respectfully in the summer. I'd imagine they didn't make a loss on the transfers either. Just a little reality check to some on here. People talking like we shouldn't be able to touch them and they have the right to walk all over us. They've been on a down slope for the last few seasons like Bolton and Blackburn. We weren't playing Real Madrid or anything
Whatever happened last season doesn't take away the fact that they played very well today though does it? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
So surely, they could only improve, or go down. They are unbeaten away from home this season, suck that in. Obviously the system we have means teams will make chances, but so do we. Cry all you like, it's not changing.
Nobody has said we shouldn't be able to touch them but we were well beaten by a better side today. We were outclassed in every position on the pitch but that is something I expected would happen in some games in this league. It's the harsh reality of the quality of teams and money in this league - something we can thank Sky for.
I don't think anyones actually said that teams have a right to beat us, but it's a fact that it was always going to be tough in this division. We started much better than I could have expected, but I'm not surprised when we are outplayed in the odd game like today. It was always going to happen. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Silly you. I'm mean it's nowt to do wi Sky why Fulham who the OP pointed out finished 20th in this league last season will be about about £50 million ahead of us before a ****ing ball has been kicked. It's why on crowds not much bigger than ours they can afford the likes of Scot Parker. Of course they've got some billionaire owner too who is happy to ***** his fortune away on a hobby club.
Agree. Should have been nothing but a win today taking into consideration we also lost to Reading who weren't much better last season a few weeks ago.
To quote someone famous. .. There are lies, dammed lies, and then there's Hemsworth. .. Sorry mate, just the mood I'm in
Slightly different angle on this - our average league position since league football started is something like 58th, which would be mid Third Division, and in the last 50 years is 42nd place, effectively 3rd bottom of the Championship. Given the financial disparity with wages, squad sizes etc, that has developed in the last 25 years, it's quite an achievement to be where we are this evening. I'm not disputing a lack of cover in certain positions, but I just don't think we can afford to have loads of players not involved week after week but picking up wages. Fulham, and probably 16-20 Championship clubs probably can. Today wasn't good, we can rarely afford to have 1 or 2 players not on form, never mind 8 or 9. But we've already seen how good we can be when it all comes together. Part of the challenge of being promoted is that you come up against 21 teams who were better than us last season. I still think we're better than at least 8 of those. And will give a game to most of the others, win lose or draw. And that'll do me.
This is absolutely the difference between the "haves" & "have nots". If anyone thinks that finances mean nothing and we should be doing better by virtue of playing at a higher level, they want their bumps feeling. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
Fecking hell. It gets worst. Some Barnsley fans talking about them like they are Real Madrid. Some saying how can we compete against such teams. Me, just seen that they've not WON since August. Let that sink in a minute. We have just been battleship destroyed by a team that's won since the first month of the season. This includes playing teams such as. Wigan athletic Football club and Burton at home, They didn't beat them. People talk about budgets. I'd imagine our budgets a lot bigger than Burtons and Barnsley have made more on Mawson than Burton have since they were established.
goodness me. imagine using the league table and thinking it's a true reflection on how good the team is.
OK pal. Why haven't we been able to compete? Why did we get relegated from the prem? Why did we struggle for all but one season last time in the championship? Why don't the top two tiers still include teams like Grimsby, Shrewsbury, Bristol rovers, Port Vale, Swindon, Oxford, Southend, Notts County etc? Is it purely football reasons and lack of effort do you reckon? Nowt to do with finance then? Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
