The front 3 rotation has worked brilliantly so far this season but for the last 3 games do we go full tilt for the full 90 minutes in these games with Woodrow Dike and Morris? Or why change something thats worked well so far. These 3 are a quality forward line with everything, goals, pace, height, strength, workrate and must scare any defence.
If it ain't broke don't fix it imo. We've had WMD starting before and imo we didn't noticeably dominate the game any more than when we've had other combinations. It's the fresh legs to the press that works. Having said that we need Dike or Morris as one of the starting line-up at least.
VI didnt change for the last couple of games after we got in the play offs. Can't see him changing what's worked.
Stick with the rotation. Chaplin and Frieser, in particular, offer something different to the WMD trio. Smaller, niggly players, ferreting around the oppo defenders. Not a bad option to have if the big guns have pummelled the defence without reward. Plus where would we be without Dom's medium-to-long throws??
Rotate them, I can only imagine what it must be like for a tired defender having put up with 3 ultra fit lads in your face for 50 minutes, only for a new 2 or 3 ultra fit lads to come on and do it all again....
Playing all 3 for the full 90 might have a detrimental effect, and not be as effective as you suggest. You describe it as going 'full tilt', however you could argue that because of how hard the strikers work, going full tilt would be to replace all 3 of them at some stage in the 2nd half. I don't think big Val replaces them to give them a rest, he gets everything he can out of the first 3, then brings the other 3 on so we can continue to press relentlessly.
