Athersley Rec u9 Orange and u12s are flag bearing tomorrow. My lad has done it 4 times before. The second time was when Stephen Croft had his heart attack at the Burton game. I was stood 10 yards from him on the pitch when he went down. Always get a lump in my throat thinking about it and it just makes you realise the cracking work the paramedics and ambulance crews do. On the plus side we haven’t lost when he’s been flag bearer. The last time was against Sheff Wednesday when we drew 1-1 a couple of seasons ago.
