Don't know if its been done b4. But just sat down watching one of my favourite films. (Great cast) The Magnificent seven. I actually have the LP (The magnificent seven and return of the seven) of the score Which is up there with the best. Elmer Bernstein who also wrote the score to another of my favourite films. The Great escape. (Another great cast)
Drive is one of my favourites. For some reason, Radio 1 decided to do a rescore of it, but that version worked well too.
The one that always gets me is the music from Shindlers List (John Williams ) Sorrowfull but beautiful at the same time.
If you look up the Top 50 scores. (All subjective I suppose) They accompany great films. Most pre 2000.
After I posted I looked up the tune and played 2 versions. One by 2 Cellos and the other by Itzhak Perlman who I believe played the original for the film.
Ennio Morricone’s score for The Good, the Bad and the Ugly gets my vote for a western. But anything by Hans Zimmer usually lifts a good film into greatness. Particularly Gladiator, Inception, Rush and Interstellar. I’d say Gladiator if I can only pick one.

Dirty Harry, that opening scene as that bird is swimming in that pool, proper haunting music. Based on the Zodiac killings. Anything by Enio Morricone, Django Unchained was good. Hans Zimmer, particularly the Dark Knight & Interstellar my favourite has to be Jurassic Park though. love a good horror score aswell, Halloween,
For horror 'The outer limits tv series in the 60's' Proper hide behind the sofa intro/music.. I can't believe mi dad let me watch it lol. (Even though I was behind the sofa peeking out of one eye).
When it comes to good tv and film themes, it really is impressive when the orchestra gets going together. Like the ones on the western films that have been mentioned, by Ennio Morricone.
My dad took me to see magnificent seven at the Ritz, pit St. All Elmer Bernstein scores are good . Magnificent seven is better in my memory than reality. My vote goes to Highlander.
Brilliant, hairs on the back of the neck music for me. I've got top side of the solo in 'goodbye to love ' by Carpenters. I'm preparing to start the outro which I think will take me about two to ten years if I'm lucky. If you haven't heard it, it's worth a listen.
