Purely out of a personal fascination with history. 1.Liz the first. Virgin, my arse. Hard as boots. 2. Edward #1, just to piss off Arabian Ian. Would never have fought in his army, though. 3. Henry 2nd. Cool wife., Eleanore. Crap husband, crap Dad, crap friend. Interesting, though. 4. Charles 2nd. Party boy. Who’s not up for that? Renaissance England. 6. Lady Jane Grey. Definitely my sort of bird. 7. Henry 8th. Serial shagger/head chopper. But invented festivals & touring bands. I’ve benefited from that. 8. Victoria. Inheriting Imperialism & Industrial revolution, can’t have been easy? Especially, when you just want to get the knickers off & shag the handsome hubby.? 9. Richard 2nd. Too much, too soon. Started well, peasant revolt & then just blew it. Died dreadfully, if you believe history. 10.- Elizabeth #2. Imagine that? Old lady? I’m regretting this now. Apologies, depressed about England.
Edward VIII for me. Did the right thing, shame the rest of the family stepped up! I do have a soft spot for George IV though (and III, if it comes to that). I suppose it's easier to like them when you don't know most of what they got up to...
I'll vote for Arthur. Very unlucky king, did well with a great win at Stamford Bridge against the Danes, but his next fixture with the French at Hastings....
Queen Mary, she’s my friend Yes I believe I’ll see her again Come on you Bob Dylan lot what song is that line from
Quite so. Queen Anne founded Ascot Racecourse in 1711 and hence is responsible for Royal Ascot, the greatest horserace meeting of the year. Every year the meeting opens with the Queen Anne Stakes. Fittingly, in 2012 when winning the race Frankel recorded the greatest ever performance by a racehorse, achieving a Timeform rating of 147, beating the previous best of 145, recorded by Sea Bird II in the 1965 Prix De L'Arc De Triomphe. All of which is straying a long way from Queen Anne!
Shame it wasn’t called off for the weather, I think pools panel result might’ve gone in his favour, Home Win
Don't know if you're serious. But Harold was in charge at that stage before the French consortium sacked him. Took one in the eye for his country.
Alfred the Great. Without him there would not be an England. Reluctant, but effective warrior, peacemaker, and who taught himself as an adult to read and write and helped translate Latin books into Old English.
Henry II for his legal reforms Aethelstan for basically saving/creating England in the first place Richard III for being unfairly maligned and for not even getting to be buried where he wanted to be. For everything that is said about our intolerance of foreigners, it’s ironic that Harold was the last English king wasn’t he? Alfred did have children
