Same on Friday please. Ive always said over the years,30 points before the New Year and you're safe from going down.40 points before New Year and you're in with a chance 0f promotion. Chuffed to bits tonight with another 3 great points.
Another decent 45 minutes too. It's encouraging that we're at least putting a performance in for half a game, it says to me that we're not a million miles away from doing it for a full 90. A couple of decent additions in January and we're a shoe-in for at least the top 6 again.
I definitely think Peterborough is a free hit. They are a good side who may cause us difficulties with their pace but it’s the games to come in Jan that we need to win.
I swear some posters on this forum wanted us to throw that game away today from 0-3 up so it would justify their vitriol against Collins. Do you know what, is everything perfect, absolutely not, I don't think we've been playing particularly well and in my opinion we havent really put a solid 90 minutes in but we keep picking up results. The way I'm looking at it is there's huge room for improvement in this side but can the same realistically be said about all the other sides in the top 6.
No argument about how good a 3 points it was today. Watched the first half before the stream went down second half. Baffled how it ended so close as Vale looked clueless in the first half. Same result again on Friday please but suspect it’ll be a lot bigger test.
Complacency. Many are blaming Collins' subs for the game being tighter than it should have been, though one was enforced and you could argue another one was too. And they did contribute to a degree, however the amount of lazy flicks, and simple misplaced passes by the likes of Williams, O'Keeffe, Russell and Kane was shocking. I don't think Collins can necessarily be blamed for that. Replacing the front 2 didn't help us either like, though with the form McAtee is in, you'd want to save him for the weekend. Cosgrove was lazy, and Jalo didn't impact the game much either barring one or two flashes. It's still 3 points at the end of the day and that's all that matters.
Let's see what Friday brings. Personally think we're way off top 2 standard, but I guess Friday will give us another look. As it stands we've only beat one top 6 side and remain outside top 6. Come Jan 2nd we could be well in contention. Or we could find ourselves still outside top 6 and Collins under pressure. Fine margins.
Considering our away form and the quality players that we possess Peterborough should be thinking exactly the same.
Their home record is the same as our away record, though they've scored more and conceded less. It's going to be an intriguing game (I hope).
As long as we're brave enough to have a go at them I can see us doing well but sit back like we did at Derby and it could be a struggle.
Tough game , I'd be happy with a point , a win would be incredible. Looking forward to a good game . Just hoping the traffic will be kind
3 points & no injuries / suspensions is the aim & we’ve achieved that in the last two games. Also worth noting that dreadful team Stevenage bounced back & won 3-0 today.
Very good assessment. As I posted on another thread. The players have to take most of the responsibility. The subs were like for like. So no real tactical change barring Russell. Panic mode.
Correct. P6, W4, D2. Also rescued 7 points from losing positions. Absolutely no coincidence. Having said that, our record in the 6 games prior to his return was W3, D2, L1, suggesting that things were already going in the right direction before he returned. Derby away was absolutely awful, but in context it's looking more and more like it was just a bad day at the office. Every team has them.
We were fine until the subs came on.. not one made an impact.. truth to be told they made us poorer ..But 3-0 HT is a funny score its like the games over when it isn't. Remember Pompey at Oakwell.. And also one for the oldy's Exeter from 77ish.. one that still haunts me 40 year's on..
