Another level. Just like everyone watching, Ismael knew we needed to to change it. He readied his subs, he had them on the edge of the pitch, and then he sensed a turn around. He sat them back down and let the team on the pitch play. And we began murdering them. And then, when we were so on top, he sensed that they were about to run out of steam, and completely changed it around. 2 new central midfield players, Palmer the size of a tank, and James with Premier League quality, Frieser who will run himself to death. There was not a single doubt we were going to win. It was hilarious listening to the commentators who simply do not understand football. Birmingham were panicking, desperately trying to get defenders on the field, like Rabbits in the headlights as we bulldozed our way through them. And Crossley said, "The game is finely balanced right now". My friend and I fell about on the floor laughing. We fk*cing destroyed them, it was fantastic, well played Ismael and well done Barnsley, that was brilliant.
Plays a squad game, giving a rest to players that need it. I also like the win or lose results at the moment draws are for wimps.
Why did we have to play so badly before the cavalry turned up? Part of his master plan no doubt - the one where we got a cheap penalty and Styles's shot just happened to get deflected from going wide and into their goal instead. Coach is a genius to plan that.
Totally agree. Superb. Mark Crossley was absolutely awful on commentary. Abysmal. I’m still laughing at “I think it’s his ankle” when victor was on his knees with 2 physio looking at his nose.
How so? You make your own luck. We got down the channel win a throw in. Organised a threatening formation off the throw, it got half cleared and Styles smashed it at goal. Yes it got deflected but we created that. We won enjoy it. We also deserved the 3 points it wasn't a smash and grab.
I think he said it was a trailing leg that caught him! Was hilarious. He also picked Victor out for a lot of criticism in the first half. Undeserved. Victor then had few poor touches in the second half, but actually grew into the game and offered a lot. Our finishing in the first half was poor, but the team performance tonight was just great. It really was. There are genuine winners in that team and a manager, who I have criticised so far, who actually knows what he's doing. I wish he was a bit more flexible in terms of formation, but he definitely knows his players.
The bloke who got the pen was already on the pitch The bloke who scored it was already on the pitch The bloke who hit the deflected winner was .... guess what? It was, if anything, more a matter of clearing off the pitch who he'd picked in the first place. You can be as superior and fatuous as you like mate, but I'm entitled to my opinion.
Yep, massive credit to the gaffer, he got it right. When I saw 4 subs ready to come on, I wondered if there was a risk of breaking the momentum, but every one of them was "at it" and contributed to the win. I'm not much of a fan of the style of play, but I don't give the shiniest of sh*tes if it produces wins. Hopefully the board will back him with a couple of additions in Jan which suit the style a bit more - left wing back and a strong, mobile centre forward for me.
I still have problems with the formation. But I also know I'm not right , it's just an opinion, and can recognise that what he did tonight was better than my preconceptions. How often do we come from behind to win away from home? That suggests to me I had it wrong, I misjudged it, and he deserves credit.
Part of me wants Crossley on commentary every game, but it gets harder to pretend it’s a comedy bit over time I assume. I can’t work out why people call this football unattractive to be honest. I think it’s great. Defence to attack and playing some lovely stuff down the flanks and into the box. Most I’ve enjoyed it in a while to be honest, and I really liked Stendel and Struber’s styles, too. I have a soft spot for players getting to the byline and cutting it back in though, so maybe that’s why I like it so much.
Yes they did in their own individual ways, and I'm happy. p.s you are David Cameron and i claim a big kiss.
