    What a total shitshow!!

Free practice 1 stopped after 9 mins because the track wasn't safe. 2nd practice delayed until 2.30am local time and all fans kicked out 30 mins before 2nd practice due to start (when it was set for 2am)

Complete farce, it is not going to go well with the track temps now either, they will be skidding all over the place. Who'd have thought it would get cold in the desert at night eh?

Yeah I get a lot of you don't like F1 before you start, maybe this thread isn't for you

Yep. Fred certainly wasn't happy with what happened with Sainz and will be worse now that both Sainz and Ocon have a grid penalty for changing engine which was through no fault of either team

It is laughable, they really need to get their house in order. Should have had a complete overhaul after the Abu Dhabi farce.

I opened this expecting to read about a doctor in Vegas getting arrested for a mass murder or something. Genuinely

$919 was the full purchase price for the full weekend and fans are being sent home. Its crazy, can see there being further issues over the weekend.

I've said it before but how can a public road be safe for 200mph races, although street races are great should be kept to the track for me. Less chance of any incidents but money talks

They manage fine mostly in Baku but running at this time and temp, I cant see how the tyres are going to cope but we shall see.

Verstappen was absolutely brutal about it in the press. Looks like he's been proven right.

I bet it will all be skirted over for when DTS lands in Spring, no doubt.

I still see some major issues developing and wouldn't be shocked if the race doesn't go ahead. We shall see. Hope I'm proved wrong and it is a good race after all.

I don’t like Verstappen but he was bang on with his comments. All about the money and the show and less about actual racing.

I’m not fully convinced the race will go ahead at this rate.

I don’t get the seemingly fascination with street tracks anyway. Give me an actual circuit any day of the week.

I like Baku and the Albert Park. Monaco has become a bit of a joke due to the size of the cars nowadays. Miami is dogshit, this one looks as interesting as that as it stands.

Should just have COTA and leave it at that. And bring back Nurburgring or Hockenheim.

Agree about those street tracks. I quite like the high speed of the Saudi one, even if I don’t think there should be a race there. Again, I guess money talks.

I’d love it if either of those 2 came back on the grid. I just hope we never lose Spa, Monza, Silverstone and Interlagos.

I get that they want to gain some ground in America as it is a massive place. But surely there’s actual tracks that would work better than shoving a street track in there.

Those 4 you mention are my favourites.

Forgot about Djeddah, it is decent too but agree with the (un)ethical side.

COTA is good but agree there must be plenty of Indycar tracks they could use if they need more than one race in the US.

I used to have F1 World Grand Prix for the N64. I liked the Volcano circuit in Hawaii.

Very fortunate that this happened during a relatively quiet practice lap and not the opening laps of the race on Sunday. Had any of the cars pulled up one of these covers with enough force to fire it into the path of an oncoming car then the result could have been tragic. And there’s not enough money or showbiz to paper over a potentially fatal accident that could have been easily prevented with good pre planning. Some compromises certainly seem to be achieved in order to get this show on the strip. How many other road courses are open to traffic during a GP weekend when the cars are not in session?

The worst part for me is that there is absolutely no show at all from the track. Apart from seeing the sphere advertising T mobile you can't even really see any of pas Vegas from the TV anyway because they've covered it all up to get extra cash from locals and tourists so really what's the point?

The manhole cover is unfortunate, but not a new issue. So for me, it’s just all blown out of proportion.

Vegas? Well, it was always going to be a show - however if the drivers still want to earn ££££££s per year, then where do they think the money comes from - sponsors need this kind of exposure. And Red Bull are always known as the party team, so it’s a bit rich for Max to be saying that. Red Bull now have Ford on board, so they’ll keep quiet.

Deep down, the drivers may not be bothered, but I suspect the teams are ok with it, as their bank balance is boosted and the USA is massive market for car sales for Mercedes, Ferrari, and Honda etc, so again, they need to be mindful of what they say.

I’m not a massive Toto fan - but he’s called it right so far.

Imo he's speaking from a totally selfish point of view wanting to further his personal bank balance. Las Vegas will be an absolute disaster for formula one just like indy was a few years ago. And frankly they deserve it for being greedy lovely people
