Just seen that Johnny Herbert isnt going to be part of Sky's F1 coverage next season
No real details as to why but rumour is he didnt toe the line and criticised things he shouldn't have like Red Bulls behaviour and the FIA etc
Real shame if that's the reason he has been dropped

His conduct was unprofessional many times last season and he was giving sky a bad name around the paddock so it's not really a surprise. I've noticed Ted's popularity has dropped with fans quite a lot too so wouldn't be surprised to see him phased out

My mate is a senior producer for Sky F1. Goes to half the GP's. He's coming round this weekend so I'll get the goss

The Abu Dhabi farce was part of my reasoning for cancelling sky sports. The coverage of F1 is awful now was they are basically censored. Remember when that happened only Nico Rosberg was saying it was 100% wrong. So if Johnny has been speaking his mind then I have no doubt they would cut him.
F1 has always been full of cheating but if the analysts are censored from talking about it then not really worth watching the coverage.
All that said if I was tasked with improving the production I'd start by getting Croft out of the commentary box!

I lost all interest in F1 when they effectively fixed the end of the season against Hamilton against contrary to their own rules.

Brundle was shocked on Comms then when they spike after it was disgusting. Rosberg was the only one calling out the farce directly.

So my mate said getting rid of Herbert was a budgetary decision more than anything else. He maybe wasn't the brightest cookie and would generally spend a lot of time on social media, then parrot the online consensus.

Sky's presenters are encouraged to get their opinions across, the more controversial the more viewers as far as producers are concerned. However the pit lane is a cliquey place and there are loads of money making rackets going on. So Sky get a lot of amazing access, but presenters are nervous about stepping on toes, upsetting friends and losing access, so won't be controversial for the sake of it.

To be honest if I'd have had to get rid of one it would've been him. I like the others that they have.
