Yes, but with the momentary blip that was the 5-1 win in Germany in 2011.

That was an utter nightmare. I watched the game against Germany at home in Millhouse Green miles from anywhere. I was accompanied by 5 screaming, shooting and giggling Germans, aged between 11 and 37. The b@stards.

After the game I went and sat in the garden alone. They took in turns to fetch me out another glass of whisky, saying "It's only a game" whilst trying to suppress a giggle.

Those were the days when I cared. Couldn't give a toss any more.

Disagree. 2002 World Cup was good.

Due to injuries we actually had a balanced side & did well to get through a tough group & were the second best team in the tournament in my opinion.

Also good in Euro 2004 up to Rooney's injury (back when Rooney was quality).

On paper the 2002 team was impressive but never delivered.

Saying that in fairness we probably had the most entertaing team at world cup 90 yet failed when so close but didnt have the expectations.

1996 vs Holland one of the best England performances i have seen in many a year.

Compare that England v Scotland game with last nights. The difference in quality of both sides is very sad. I reckon that Scotland side with McAllister, Durie et al would easily beat the current England rabble.

The last time I felt anything for England and even that was ruined on my way home from Wembley by idiot England fans after the Germany games.
