Great tournament and a precursor to the bfc 96 97 season .
Also a reminder of what a class player Jamie Red knap was .
    So unlucky with injuries .

I think BFC have had terrible luck with injuries over the years. Some of our players just haven’t been injured enough!!

96 & 97 were the best 2 years of my life to date, remember dancing on pool table in the Athersley on Rotherham road after beating Spain.

Always felt both him and Anderton were under appreciated in that tournament.

People have rose tinted memories of Euro 96. Against Switzerland we were garbage. The Scotland game was a bore apart from the missed penalty and Gascoigne's wonder goal. The Holland game was fantastic, brilliant performance and will be my lasting memory of Euro 96. I can't think that had it not been for the 4-1 win against them the competition would have been a damp squib. The Spain game was a 120 minute bore. The Germany game we set off well and got the goal and waited for them to score and the inevitable extra-time and penalties. Suddenly England came to life in extra-time and should have scored only to lose on penalties. I couldn't help thinking at the time why didn't they play like that for the ninety minutes.
