This is a 'nostalgic' post for no other reason than Arabian Ian said he expected to see it mentioned and I didn't want him to feel let down! :D:D:p:p

I was just shy of my eleventh birthday and getting giddy with anticipation of "big" school. I'm now just shy of my 66th and giddy with anticipation of retirement...took a while these two finals.

I’m coming up to my 65th but I honestly cannot remember the occasion as it happened. It has been mentioned once or twice over the past 55 years I must admit. Obviously my father had the good sense to keep me away from it.
I do remember Celtic winning the European Cup in 67 and Manchester United winning it at Wembley.

I get sick of hearing about it and I'm English!

I can remember speaking to my Dad - who is English - on the phone a few years ago before a major tournement. He stated he was watching a replay of the 1966 final for the first time. I was a little taken aback as I had always assumed he had watched it live though quickly enquired if it was because he was away on exercise due to him being in army at the time. He replied that he was on leave and home in Hoyland but was "fed up" with all the football and "took some burd to Blackpool" instead
