£4.89million per club. https://www.efl.com/news/2021/march/league-secures-championship-loan-fund/?s=08
Seeing the word 'loan' in there is a bit worrying. Ok this may put a plaster on things for many clubs, but longer term doesn't address the issue that too many clubs spend beyond their means. No details of the loan terms. What happens when clubs start to miss payments if they carry on with the same reckless business models..Straight into admin?
I think it's there to replace some of the lost revenue due to Covid. But I agree, there is a much wider issue, and this does nothing to address that. I'm not sure that's what it's there for to be honest. Clubs need to start taking responsibility for themselves.
It's softening us for when Forest, Sunderland and Wednesday get back up and they close up the border once they have enough massive clubs.
One interesting thing about Dike being linked with the Premier League is we have the option on him. So that means we've already agreed a fee and terms with Orlando and the player. I can't see how he won't be a Barnsley player next season unless we don't want him?
My view too. The fact that dane said the option to buy is more or less in our hands, and at a price we have been paying comparable to recent purchases, should be a formality. Unless of course Dike doesnt want to
Surely we'd still need to arrange personal terms? That where other options to buy have fallen down, i.e. Morsy?
I think the option to buy might be a condition subject to promotion, hence the high fee being branded about & of course if we do not make it then we have lost the option & its open season for the premier clubs , I could of course be wrong !
Dane also said it would be easy for us to reach the conditions. Unless he knows we are bound for the premier league, I very much doubt the conditions are promotion based.
The only thing that makes me sceptical about the Dike deal, is that it's a bit different when signing players from the MLS. Essentially they're owned by the league, and not Orlando. I get the feeling there's more to it than just an agreed fee. I could be well wide of the mark like.
Yeah, but we in our wisdom tried to renegotiate the agreed deal, which basically screwed it over and left wigan free to do as they please
That too once we tried to get him even cheaper. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the chaos at the time, PC kind of got shut of the bloke who tried to renegotiate it shortly after? (That bit is fading memory tbh)
I'd say you're spot on. The sh 1t hit the fan at the same time. The Morsy deal fell through. Winnall leaving was sanctioned but not to Wednesday and Hourihane had already said he was intending to leave. Then Watkins, Scowen wanted out. A pretty crap time.
